Now we are officially in the last 2 weeks of 2019! It’s time to put the brakes on and stop exercising, right? No. These last 2 weeks are crucial. The three reasons are the sweet intake, work slows down, and lack of activity.
Eating more sweets
Egg nog. Grande latte. Candy cane. Hot cocoa. Cookies. Cupcakes. Fudge. Chocolate. This time of year these types of items are in abundance. Yes, personal trainers get these too. We are human. Now I am not saying you should not eat it, enjoy it. However, understand that if you are trying to lose weight, make sure to keep up with exercising. Control your portions because it is EASY to eat 10 fudge pieces in one sitting.
Work slows down
For the majority, work slows down around this time of year. This is where laziness kicks in. For those that are professionals, work is what we do most of the day. If we don’t have to put much effort into work, then it creates laziness. “Oh, I don’t have to do too much.” “I just sat all day for 8 hours.” Sounds familiar? Maybe this doesn’t apply to you, but what this habit creates is a mindset that you don’t have to put much effort into things. So when you exercise, your intensity drops, you don’t elevate your heart rate as much, etc.
Lack of activity
It’s cold outside. All you want to do is snuggle up in your blanket and drink that nice hot black coffee. Where are you in your house? Either in the bed or couch watching Netflix, right? You are not moving at all. This is DANGEROUS. This lack of activity can lead to weight gain. If your average steps go from 10,000 to 500, you need to move. There’s plenty of activities you can do to get those steps so avoid sitting a long time.
Christmas is hectic with events, shopping, and family gatherings. Don’t slow down your fitness because when January comes around, your weight will be up. Hope you liked this week’s blog. Stay tuned for more next Wed, which is NEW YEAR’S! -Kei
