October 30, the eve of Halloween. You know what that means ladies and gentlemen. The season of candies. Milky Way, Twix, Skittles, Snickers, Nerds, Reese’s, 3 Musketeers, Candy Corn (yuck), Blow Pops, Sour Patch Kids, etc. we all have our favorite candy. As adults, we eat what we grew up on and candy hasn’t changed throughout the years. What are you going to do this Halloween to make sure not to gain weight?
Control your portion
Yes, we have options on sizing. Family, king, and fun. For those of us that feel guilty, we go for the fun-size option. Its not “fun” when you realize that you ate 5 packets and you didn’t even go trick or treating. Control your portions.
On the other hand, its not the calories you should be aware of, but the sugar content. The fun size packs as much as 21 grams of sugar in one packet. The recommended daily intake varies, but should be in the range of 25-35 grams per day if you are trying to lose weight. Eat one and you are basically left with no sugar for the rest of the day. Do people usually eat one candy? Yeah, didn’t think so. I can easily eat 10 packs of Skittles, but I know I can’t. Limit yourself to 1 or 2.
All in all, enjoy your Halloween. If you decide to splurge, its not the end of the world. Regroup in November because now it becomes the hardest time of year. Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hope you liked this week’s blog. Stay tuned for more next Wed………..Kei
