2020

Happy New Year’s ladies and gentlemen! Brand new year. Clean slate. We get to start all over. Day 1 out of 365. You’ve had your break and now you are excited to get back to exercising. Before you get out there and crush it, have these in mind when getting ready to amp up your fitness.

First, set goals. What do you want to accomplish for the year, 3 months, 6 months, and 9 months? Write these down. Also, be specific. Losing weight is vague. Be specific like, “lose 7 pounds by March.” Also being realistic with your approach. My goal for 2020 is to not get sick once in the year 2020. That means I have to maintain a well-balanced meal, take my vitamins daily, drink plenty of water, controlling stress (this is a struggle for me), and getting enough rest. Set specific short-term goals as well to keep track of progress.

Secondly, understand that each year may be different. Our bodies change over time, things that used to work may not this year. Improvise. Change it up. Add new things to the routine. These are things we all have to do.

Finally, always go back to the basics of believing in the process. Progress takes time. Changing bad habits take time. Long-lasting results take time. Keep reminding yourself of this because you can easily forget when things are going the opposite way. Frustration and depression hit when you are gaining weight and getting injured. We all go through the bumps and downs of fitness. But it all starts with the mentality of believing that the hard work you put in will lead to the results you want. My favorite word in fitness: grit.

Hope you liked this week’s blog. Stay tuned for more next Wed…………. Kei
