So you’re excited to start your fitness journey or planning on making a comeback to a healthy lifestyle. So what are things that you need to make sure your fitness journey is off to the right start?
First, is athletic clothing. You gotta look the part, right? It starts with the right type of shoes. What type of terrain are you going to be training on? If it’s for the gym, then you don’t need too much cushioning. But if you plan on training outdoors, then you need maximum support for your feet. When it comes to outfits, it all depends on preference. I have to wear Dri-FIT shirts or else I am in big trouble with taking the shirt off, hah. There have been situations where I got stuck trying to take my shirt off and it was a struggle.
Next is proper nutrition. If you plan on having an efficient, strong workout, then I suggest eating 2-3 hours before. The last thing you want is to jeopardize your workout by not having energy. In addition, finding the right balance of macronutrients. Most of my carbohydrates are from vegetables and protein from chicken and fish. If you feel sluggish and lethargic during your workout, look at what you are fueling your body and adjust accordingly.
Thirdly, is a water bottle. I cannot stress this enough when you’re working out. If you sweat, then you must replenish. In addition, if you are a caffeine addict like me, you must drink more water to balance it out. I suggest getting at least a 32-ounce bottle so you don’t have to refill it during your workout.
Lastly, is a positive attitude. “Ugh, I have to go workout now.” “Gosh, I hate working out.” How do you think your workout will go with this attitude? I would guess that it wouldn’t go well. Rather than having a negative attitude, go in there with something like, “I need this workout to relieve my stress.” “I had a bad day at work, I need to do something for myself.”
So there is your fitness checklist. Hope you enjoyed this week’s blog. Stay tuned for more next Wed…………Kei
