Giving Thanks (11/23/16)

Thanksgiving. The time of year to reflect upon how thankful we are and the wonderful people we are surrounded with. Living in a chaotic world, it’s easy to get lost and forget to appreciate the little things in life. Wars being declared left and right, earthquakes happening here and there, shootings, kidnapping, carjacking, riots, stabbings, the list goes on and it’s just depressing to see that on a daily basis. It happens every day, but if you keep letting the media control your life, it WILL wear you down and affect you negatively. So why not flip the switch and give thanks for not being involved in a car accident or shooting. Life can change in a matter of seconds and we won’t realize how well we have it until AFTER a tragedy.

My way of thinking has always been, “it can always be worse.” Sure, my life can be better. But, life can always be worse. A LOT WORSE. And that’s what I grew up learning from my mother. My parents divorced early on and we didn’t have much growing up. Things were tough, but I knew it could have been worse. I learned to appreciate the little things in life and seeing how dedicated my mother was raising two children on her own. Working two jobs, Monday through Saturday, for 10 years. I don’t even know how she did it, never complained. Words cannot express how grateful I am for my mother. Now, before I sound too much of a momma’s boy (hah), I will say that giving thanks and appreciation to someone really goes a long way. I wish it happened not just once, but throughout the year.

We can always learn from another. Appreciate our differences. Not hate, discriminate, or judge one another. It doesn’t take much to piss someone off these days. I’m sure someone will be giving me the middle finger during Black Friday sales, hah. Learn to control your emotions and appreciate the little things in life, because trust me, LIFE can ALWAYS be WORSE. Hope you liked this week’s blog, stay tuned for more next week. Enjoy time with family and friends and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!……………………..Kei
