“I’m going to work out every day. I’m going to eat clean from now on.” These are things I hear from time to time. I always tell people to be realistic. Like c’mon, let’s just analyze what you said and how ridiculous (yes, I said it. RIDICULOUS) you sound. You gotta take it step by step. Don’t jump the gun; slow and steady wins the race. I believe this is especially true with fitness. With all the ads out there and infomercials advertising incredible results in ridiculous amount of time, people get the misconception getting those types of results are easy. Reality check: it’s not. Bad habits are hard to fix. You have to commit to change. I’m not saying it can’t be done, all I’m saying is it’s not going to be easy.
My suggestion to people who want to incorporate exercise or eating clean into their daily habit is to find that discipline that you can stick with. Take it slow because you want to make good decisions, so you don’t go back to the bad habits. I’ll admit I don’t exercise every day, but I have been at least 2-3 times a week for the past 16 years. Nor do I eat healthy 7 days a week every week. But I tend to control my diet during the week. To me, I was able to figure out what works for me, and most importantly, sustainable. It’s not perfect by any means, but it works. Through trial and error you figure out what you can handle, but you have to be realistic. Listen to your body and adjust if it doesn’t respond well. Again, don’t jump the gun and go from zero to a hundred. Next thing you know, you’ll go from hundred to zero, real quick…………………Stay tuned for more next week. -Kei
